Ankeny Centennial

Having played in the shadows of state rivals Ames, Ottumwa and Cedar Rapids, the Hoover High School Bobcats can attest to the fact that a good old fashion Iowa rivalry game is just what the doctor ordered. This is the time of year when football is at its peak and the state’s high school sports administrators have more than their fair share of free time to burn. Having a good ole’ fashioned afghan on your side can make all the difference in the world.

While the Bobcats can’t be counted on for their usual tepid play, the state is arguably the best place to play for the most part and this is a fact that will not go unrecognized. The high school football season isn’t over yet, but for the true Tiger fan, there’s no reason to wait until November to get the sacks flowing. With that in mind, you should make it a point to check out all of the best teams in your area in order to get your fix. After all, no one wants to feel left out on game day. Whether you’re a fan of the locals or the competition, you’re sure to have a great time.

Priceville vs Randolph 4A, Region 8 championship

During Week 10, high school football teams across the state will play their final regular season games. There are several games this week that will determine the region championships. One of these games will be the AHSAA TV Network Game of the Week.

Priceville and Randolph will face each other for the Region 8 championship on Friday. The Raiders have not won a region title and are looking to get one this season. They have a strong defense and high scoring offensive attack. Priceville has scored 392 points in the last two games.

Priceville has a lot of speed on their offense, including the top running back in Class 4A, Mason Cartee. He has 1,221 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns this season.

Priceville scored 72 points last week against Westminster Christian. Mason Cartee ran for 194 yards and three touchdowns. Cartee also added a 47-yard reception for a touchdown. Priceville is averaging 43.6 points a game. Priceville quarterback Jackson Prickett has thrown 22 passes this season.

Randolph has scored 47.4 points per game and has scored 50 or more points in five of six games. The Raiders have also kept plenty of possession in each of their last two games.

Randolph will have two more games left before they enter the postseason. They will play Priceville again next month. Randolph has never won a region championship and hopes to get one this season.

Hawks and Hawks meet just a week ago

During last week’s 115-107 win over the San Antonio Spurs, the Atlanta Hawks played the same game they had played two nights earlier in Portland. They went down by nine points, but were able to turn it around and take a 17-point lead in the fourth quarter.

The Hawks are a well-rounded team, but they don’t have the interior scoring or rebounding to be elite. They also don’t have the highest assist percentage or true shooting percentage.

It’s not easy to come up with the best team in the NBA, but the Hawks have made a few things clear. They have a strong defense, play with ease and rely on core quality. They should be able to make a playoff run in April. However, their backcourt will have to step up if they hope to take advantage of the guard rotation in Milwaukee.

Trae Young is the team’s leader in points, rebounds and assists per game, while his efficiency isn’t all that great. In addition, he also has a ton of turnovers, and the Hawks have a terrible offensive rebounding rate.

The Hawks have improved their defense over the last six weeks, but they still need to improve their offensive execution. They’re also likely to miss another starter due to injury, so they’ll need more than just Trae Young to keep up.

On the other hand, they’re still a threat from beyond the arc. They have five starters who average double digits in points. And, they’re also tied for the most assists on treys in the NBA.
