Homewood High School Baseball

Whether it’s playing for a local high school or a national team, baseball players must know how to be a team player. In the Homewood High School baseball program, the team is built on a solid foundation of core values, teamwork, and a passion for the game.

Nate Stevens

Earlier this month, Nate Stevens, Homewood High School baseball player, had the honor of being a Baron for a day. The Barons, in conjunction with Regions Bank and Make-A-Wish Alabama, teamed up to make this happen.

Stevens received a special hero’s welcome in the clubhouse. He was given a specialized jersey and a special tidbit of information. This tidbit was that he had received his final chemo injection on Friday. It was all a part of the Barons’ “Wish Grant Celebration” in honor of Stevens’ upcoming cruise.

He was also given a bottle of wine and a small hero’s medal to go with the special award. Despite being a little sluggish on his first day, Stevens finished with a 10-under-par 134 at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids. He only had one bogey in the entire day.

Despite battling leukemia since age eight, Nate Stevens isn’t giving up on his dream of becoming a professional baseball player. He plans to transfer to Johnson County for the spring semester of 2020. Nate is a hard worker and is committed to improving. He has his eyes on the prize, which is a state championship in his final year of high school baseball. He is also the Star Tribune’s Metro Boys’ Golfer of the Year.

He was also the first player to ever receive the state’s most coveted award, the coveted Big Ten award. Nate has also been given the accolade of the state’s most improved player. In fact, he is the only player to have won this honor twice. He is also the only player to have been voted to the all-conference team three times. He is also a member of the state’s most prestigious honorary fraternity, the Kappa Kappa Psi.

Flooding in Homewood

During the week of May 22nd, 2016, a young Homewood High School graduate, Myles Butler, died while trying to drive home from a friend’s house during a storm. The 23-year-old, who was a member of the school’s 2016 State Championship basketball team, was located in a submerged vehicle in Hoover. A local coroner has identified him as the victim of a tragic car crash. The incident was also reported to have caused traffic delays throughout central Alabama.

The risk of flooding is not entirely unknown in Homewood, as the city is surrounded by rivers that are susceptible to flooding. However, the city does not have a high risk of wildfires. Rather, it is more likely that the city will be exposed to extreme heat and cold. These conditions could result in damage to property and utilities, and can be the culprit in a disaster if the area is hit by a hurricane.
