Currently, the Hartselle Tigers football team is ranked third in the state of Alabama, according to the Alabama Football Coaches Association. Although they haven’t won any games so far, the Tigers have had some good performances, which is a good sign. However, they also have some tough competition, such as the Columbia Yellow Jackets and the Gadsden City Titans. They will be trying to avoid losing too many games and will have to get ready to play some good football.
Despite a tepid start, the Gadsden City Titans were able to get back on track. After a first quarter that featured two turnovers and a punt blocked by Saban Witt, the Titans got on the board in the second quarter with a touchdown courtesy of T.J. Worthy.
The Tigers also drew a major defensive challenge from the Titans’ own stout defense, led by Dre Kirkpatrick Jr., who had six tackles and an interception. In addition to the Gadsden City’s other half, the Tigers boasted an all-around good offense that churned out four touchdowns.
For a program that hasn’t won a game in almost a decade, the win could finally end the Eden Park hoodoo. It also may have a bearing on the World Cup warmup games this weekend in Perth, Australia.
The Gadsden City Titans had the chance to win the aforementioned game, but it was the Tigers’ defense that kept them in check. The best part was that the Tigers’ offense was on the field for most of the game. Aside from a couple of miscues, the Tigers did have a couple of impressive plays, including a touchdown pass from Jack Smith to Eli Tidwell in the end zone and a 79-yard slam dunk from Cole Gamble to put the game away.
The Gadsden City Titans got off to a shaky start, but were able to get the ball back in their hands in the third quarter with an impressive 35-yard field goal from Gabriel Brito. That’s not to mention a pair of crucial first downs and a few key second downs during the ensuing drive.
Despite the Tigers’ defense putting them on their backs for much of the game, the Tigers found a way to score. In the second half, the Titans’ offense was limited to just one touchdown and two turnovers. In the fourth quarter, the Titans ran out the clock with two kneel-downs.
The Tigers got a good look at the Gadsden City offense in Week 7. The Titans pounded out 271 yards on the ground in the first half, led by junior running back Cole Gamble. Despite the fact that the Tigers had to punt on their first drive of the game, the Tigers’ defense was able to get the ball back in their possession twice. The Gadsden City offense only managed one score, a touchdown by junior running back John Colvin, on a 15-yard touchdown run. The Tigers defended their own opportunist with a couple of impressive interceptions.
The Tigers’ best scoring effort came early in the second quarter when the Tigers scored their first touchdown. This one was a hoot. The Tigers’ best receiver is junior Izayah Fletcher who caught six passes for 91 yards. The Tigers’ best linebacker, Peyton Steele, starred in the big game, recording a pair of interception touchdowns. The Tigers’ best offensive line, led by quarterback Luke Waldrop, also performed well.
The Tigers have won a ton of games in the past three years. They have also had the most successful coach in the school’s history, Chris Yeager. This is the Spartans’ fifth season in the 6A classification and their 16th under the Yeager wing. The Tigers were in the 7A octagon until last year.
Neither team had a lot of success on offense in their game against the other. The first half was a stalemate. In the third quarter, both teams scored. The Titans had a field goal late in the third quarter, while the Tigers had a touchdown. But the game was decided in the final minute.
Hartselle won the game by scoring on their final possession. The Tigers drove down the field with a passing play and a run. They forced a punt after a fumble on the Gadsden City’s first possession. They then ran the clock out with two kneel downs. They got the ball back with 1:21 left in the game.

The Titans had a chance to tie the game late in the fourth quarter, but they turned the ball over on downs. The Tigers got the ball back with about three minutes left in the game. They then scored on a fumble recovery by Jordan Dobbins. He rushed for 16 yards on three carries.

The Tigers have won two games in their last two home games. They have lost two on the road. Their last win on the road came against Decatur.
The Tigers are led by DAULTON HYATT who has completed 12-of-18 passes for 178 yards. He also has two touchdowns. He also rushed five times for 26 yards. He is also averaging five catches per game.
He will be facing former Crimson Tide defensive tackle Kenny King. He also holds offers from multiple SEC schools.
The Yellow Jackets are also led by quarterback Bradyn Joiner who has three touchdown passes. He has started all three games. His teammates include linebacker Mylon Miller and linebacker Tommy Cazier.
Among the countless high school football programs in the state of Alabama, the Jackson-Olin Mustangs have to be considered the kings of the hill. They have an impressive list of achievements to their credit and a supportive community. Despite their lofty title, the Mustangs are still a work in progress and are always on the lookout for their next foe. So far, the only losses have come by the slimmest of margins. They are still in the hunt for a playoff spot and are favored to do so, albeit on their terms. Despite their rough start, the Mustangs have shown they are more than just a handful of bruisers. The key to the team’s success is teamwork. If the school can get its act together, the future looks bright for years to come.
For a school that boasts over 70 students, they still manage to field a competitive team. This year, the Mustangs have earned the third spot in Region 5, and will have their sights set on the 6A state title next season. They’ve been a force to be reckoned with in recent years, with the most recent wins over the likes of Jones Valley and Carver. In addition to their win total, they have scored over 140 points in three games and shut the other door on their biggest rivals in the process.
