Get Involved With the Leeds Greenwave

leeds greenwave

Whether you are a student or a parent, the Leeds Greenwave is a great way to get involved in your community. Not only do you get to support your favorite high school sports, you also get to meet new friends and participate in events and activities.

High school volleyball

Currently, the Leeds Greenwave is in the midst of a three game winning streak and will soon make their way into the high school volleyball playoffs. With a new team and a new season, the senior leaders will be taking the lead in this year’s varsity matches. The Greenwave will be playing matches against the likes of Oneonta, Fultondale and Midfield and will certainly be in the hunt for the state championship in their home district.

The team is led by seniors Melina Rose and Briana McLaughlin, who have been involved with the Greenwave since they were in the 7th grade. The Golden Bears also benefited from a stellar performance from outside hitting machine Maddie Barnhart. While the team’s performance was mediocre in terms of passing and serving, they showed off their offensive acumen by tying their rivals at 24-24. The Green Wave will have their work cut out for them in the next two weeks as they face off against the Fultondale Golden Panthers and the Oneonta Panthers in the finals of the Mid-Atlantic Conference. The Green Wave will also be heading down to Birmingham, Alabama to compete in the AHSAA Volleyball Championships. It’s a long road ahead, but the Greenwave has a few exciting matches in the works. Hopefully, the seniors will lead the team into the state championships with a perfect record.

They will look to improve on their 59-23 record from last year. Their defense is allowing 9 points a game, but will need to improve as they play against more talented skill players. The team’s offense is led by quarterback Conner Nelson, who is listed as a receiver, and running back Jeremiah Hunter, who has broken several long touchdowns this season.

The Moody Blue Devils are ranked as the third best team in Class 5A. They have a high-flying offensive attack. Their offense is averaging 49 points a game, but they have held four of their opponents to seven or fewer points. The team has scored at least 40 points in each of their three games this season.

They have a trip to the AHSAA Final four on the line in the upcoming season, and will need to keep an eye on the defense as well. The team’s offensive line is a solid group that is averaging 122 yards per game. The team’s defense is allowing 9.9 points a game in 2022.
