They will play Asbury next week. AHSAA 2A State Championships are on the horizon for the Red Devils. Fyffe has won three consecutive state titles. In the rivalry, Fyffe has won 44-34.

Fyffe’s 51-game winning streak was the second longest in AHSAA history and the longest current high school football winning streak. The Red Devils have won 49 consecutive games since 2015. This is the longest streak for a single team to score 20+ points in a game. Fyffe is hoping to continue its streak into the AHSAA 2A State Championships. The Red Devils hope to win the AHSAA 2A State Championship this season.

Battle of Skirum Creek

Whether you know the Geraldine Bulldogs or not, you probably already know they’ve won the Battle of Skirum Creek a hundred times. And you may have even heard of them winning the state championship back in 1933. But you might not know that they’ve won five consecutive Class 6A championship games since 2004, including the past three against Crossville.

The Bulldogs scored on each of their first three possessions. The first one was a 29-yard touchdown pass from James Roe to Jay Morgan. The second was a 93-yard run by Andrew Hall. The third was a 38-yard punt return by Hall. And the fourth was a 2-yard run by Zed Martin with 8:35 left in the game. The two-point conversion failed to give the Bulldogs a 6-0 lead.

It’s not easy being a small school football team. Pickens County is an elite program located eight miles from Gordo, Alabama. A few of the Bulldogs have played at the University of Alabama, Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Auburn. At least four have been captains of college teams.

The Geraldine Bulldogs will travel to Collinsville next week for their next game. They’ve won four straight against the Crossville Lions, including a 53-0 rout last year. They haven’t lost to Crossville since 1997. Hopefully, they can continue their streak. They’re averaging 378 yards a game and will be playing in the first round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association State Playoffs.

Mars Hill Bible

Despite being no-named compared to the likes of the Bulldogs, the Mars Hill Bible is a private school with a sizable enrollment of 300. The school is a college prep program that offers classes from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. The Mars Hill Bible has a varsity football team that will play in the upcoming AHSAA Football Playoffs – 3A tournament. This game will be played on Friday, November 11th at 7pm.

The Mars Hill Bible has a large enrollment, which includes an impressive list of alumni, but the school’s varsity football team will face off against Geraldine in a neutral playoff game on Friday. This will be a 3A Region 6 game. The Bulldogs will be looking for their fifth straight win while the Panthers will try to avenge their regular season loss to the Bulldogs.

In a nutshell, Geraldine’s 17-7 win over the Bulldogs was a lot more than a couple of quarterbacks and some sloppy play on the part of the Bulldogs’ defense. The team did a good job of stopping the juggernaut Dobbs, but the Bulldogs were not able to convert their fourth-and-two attempt at GHS.

While the Mars Hill Bible scored the most points on the night, Geraldine was able to pull off the win with a solid performance on both sides of the ball. The team was able to capitalize on its first-and-goal from the two-yard line with a touchdown and a good PAT.

The Geraldine Bulldogs took their first lead of the game on a touchdown from a Cody Holloway 46-yard touchdown run. In all, the Bulldogs out-gained the Panthers 141 to 69 in the air and on the ground.

The most impressive thing about the Geraldine versus the Mars Hill Bible is that the Bulldogs walked away with the win and a spot in the Class 3A playoffs.
