Dora High School Football is Heading in the Right Direction

Despite the fact that the Dora High School football team has lost some key players, the team is still headed in the right direction. The field has improved, the drainage is being worked on, and the schedule is set for the remainder of the season.

Luke Hutchinson

Introducing the new Mount Dora High School football coach Luke Hutchinson. This former Californian is no stranger to the coaching ropes, having served as an assistant coach at Upland High School and Dr. Phillips High School in the past. He also has experience coaching weightlifting and in the classroom. He and his wife have two children in Lake County.

The new head coach will be formally introduced to the public at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday. The football team is 6-4 on the season and looking to make a playoff run. The team will have its hands full in their district opener against The Villages Buffalo, a team coached by former Orlando Magic and Orlando Super Bowl quarterback Alvon Isaac. As for the football program itself, the school is in the process of raising a million dollars to help fund a new athletic track, a new football field, and refurbishing two old-school concession stands. The new stadium will also include an artificial turf field and the like. As for the rest of the student body, they can look forward to a fun fall semester. This will also be the school’s first football game since a decade long hiatus. For more information, check out the Mount Dora Buzz online. The site is also home to a monthly calendar of events, a blog, and a Facebook page. The community has taken up the cause of the locals by raising more than a million dollars to fund a new stadium and a better football program. The community trust also matched the aforementioned fundraising efforts.

The most important part is the fact that Luke Hutchinson will get to lead the Hurricanes into the postseason for the first time in a decade. This may be one of the most exciting years in school history. With a state championship in sight and a top 10 ranking in the state, the Hurricanes will have their work cut out for them. The biggest question will be, will the team be able to keep their cool? The team is no stranger to upsets, but this may be the season that they finally put their best foot forward.

The field’s drainage is improving

Whether you’re a local or an away fan, you’ll be pleased to know that the field’s drainage is improving at Dora high school football. The new field features artificial turf from Act Global and a new drainage system to fix squishy spots. The stadium and field will be safer, more functional and much more fun to play on.

The stadium has not seen a renovation since 1962. A community fundraising campaign raised almost half a million dollars within a few months. The improvements will include a new press box, sound system, concession stand renovations, Hurricane locker room improvements, and a renovated PAC House.

The most common problem associated with high-use sports fields is drainage. To make a field playable after a rain, water has to be drained away from the surface and collected by subsurface or perimeter drainage. Depending on the needs of your facility, it may be best to hire a professional to design the perfect drainage solution for your facility.

The field’s drainage is improving at Dora is a small part of a larger construction project to improve the overall athletic facility. The new field will feature state-of-the-art drainage, including an eight-lane track around the football field. The track is expected to be completed this winter. In addition to the track, the stadium features a specialized ambulance area, two USB charging stations, and an EMT area.
