During the past few years, the Dartmouth High School football team has made a name for themselves. They have made many trips to the state championships and are a very strong team overall. This year, they are set to make it to the playoffs once again. The team is led by Eli Spray, the school’s star quarterback. With a few other talented players, the team looks to be in good shape for a big season.
Sadly, Eli Spray, a DAR High School senior died in a crash on his way to a game against rivals Brindlee Mountain. Eli was driving a 2004 Mitsubishi Eclipse and was on his way to see the best of them all. This was a big deal, considering that DAR has 18 seniors to choose from. There are not too many DAR High School alumni in the southeastern United States. In fact, only one member of the DAR football family is from Huntsville. Fortunately, the team has been able to pick up the slack and has a much better chance of making the playoffs. Despite the fact that the team has been in the bottom rung of the playoff bracket since the fall of the millennium, the team remains a notch above its peers and hasn’t been knocked out of the playoffs since 2015.
The aforementioned crash occurred at around 3:45 a.m., but according to Marshall County Sheriff Phil Sims, the police department will be on the lookout for at least the remainder of the day. The department’s crime prevention unit will conduct a thorough investigation, including a full-scale search of Eli’s home, where the suspect may be hiding. In the meantime, the best of luck to the DAR community. One can only hope that Eli’s family will be able to cope with this loss.
Amongst the plethora of Georgia high school football programs, the Bulldogs have been the most competitive for many years running. The aforementioned oh-so-pajama laden squad has only sported a losing record one time in the past 10 years. For the sake of comparison, the Bears were on a two-game losing streak during the same span of time. In the past, the Bulldogs have boasted a record 11-4 record. However, the most recent season has seen the team in the doghouse.
The Bulldogs have a long road to travel if they hope to reclaim the championship in the near future. The best way to make the journey worthwhile is to prepare for the competition by attending a few games in advance. The top of the line aforementioned aforementioned has seen action in all but three games this season. For the most part, the Bulldogs haven’t been stingy when it comes to the huddle. The one exception to the rule has been a winless season opener. As for the rest of the schedule, the Bulldogs will be well represented on the field. The top of the line has seen action in the following games: Auburn, Georgia, Georgia State and Georgia Tech. Despite the fact that the Bulldogs haven’t seen a win in the past five games, the Bulldogs have been solid overall. CCHS has had a couple of high profile losses, including a close one to the eventual dynasty in Auburn.
Whether you’re a student, alumnus, or just a fan of the sport, you’ve probably heard of Becker Hall. It’s the largest vertical log structure in the world, and it’s still in use today. This historic building was built as an all-states project of the DAR, and it was completed in 1937.
Today, Becker Hall serves as a physical education building for elementary students. It is also the site for school performances. It’s also home to a number of athletic teams, including Becker Bandits, an amateur baseball team. It’s also home to a concession stand, swing set, and play area.

Limestone College is renovating athletics facilities at the college, including the Saints Field, the Junior Membership Athletic Complex, and the campus parking lot. They are also renovating community gathering spots. The campus has new walkways connecting the academic portion of the campus to the athletic complex. The athletic complex will also include new signage and entrances, along with aesthetic enhancements.
The Junior Membership Athletic Complex includes locker rooms, restrooms, and a concession stand. It also houses softball and baseball locker rooms. The facility includes an oval for football and a synthetic field for lacrosse and baseball. The track and field stadium is also located on the complex. There is a public use track for sports events that are not scheduled.
The Jeanette Osborn Baylies Building, completed in 1978, was built as part of the National School Project. It is also known as the Honorary President General, NSDAR building. It was named after Marie H. Yochim, President General of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution from 1989 to 1992.
