According to WKRG Sports, the Daphne Trojans football team was able to put up a win over the top-ranked Hoover Buccaneers. However, the Buccaneers failed to make a field-goal attempt during the game, which led to the Daphne Trojans’ victory. The victory also ended the Buccaneers’ 21-game winning streak. The Trojans also had an honorable mention player in wide receiver Israel Lamprakes.

The Daphne Trojans football program has been a pipeline for collegiate football players. In fact, more than 12 players have received college football scholarships. There are several players that are in the NFL today. Despite its success, Daphne hasn’t advanced to the second round of the playoffs since the Trojans made their 2010 title run. However, the city council recently approved a $575,000 synthetic turf field for the Daphne High School.

This project will not only benefit the residents of Daphne, but it will also save the city $300,000 in maintenance costs. However, the city should also spend the money on new sidewalks, road paving and other local improvements. The athletic director and school principal are working to raise the money to make this project a reality. If they can raise the money, the city will be on its way to building one of the best football facilities in Alabama. The Daphne Trojans football program is an excellent example of what can be achieved when you have the right people in the right place. Hopefully, the next generation of Daphne Trojans will follow suit and bring home a state championship.

Shop-A-Thon

During the eighth annual Christmas Shop-A-Thon, the Daphne Trojans football team paired with the Target store to provide children with a shopping spree for the holidays. The team selected 26 children to participate in the event, and each child was paired with a Daphne High player for the day.

The shop-a-thon was created by Kenny King, the head football coach at Daphne High School, and athletic director at Daphne High School. The idea started when Kenny was a player with the Arizona Cardinals. It continues today, and Kenny is still involved in the event as a volunteer. The organization is a 501 C-3 nonprofit, and the money raised is used for local youth. It has also started a speech and debate program for K-12 students.

Daphne High School also plans to participate in the LSK Lupus Walk on March 16, 2019. The school budget is hard to understand, but it is important to understand that all funds are limited. The PTA will work to make the budget more understandable through an explainer. They will also try to schedule movie nights for November, and move the book fair back a week. Having a clear budget is important, and they will ask for an explanation before making a vote.
