Despite a strong performance by the defense, Clark’s rushing attack couldn’t get the job done against Marshall. The Cougars were outgained on the ground by 146 yards. After the game, the Cougars were crowned District 28-5A champions and earned their 4-0 league record. Clark has reached the playoffs in each of the last nine seasons and has won three district championships. They have also finished as the runner-up seven times. This year, Marshall won its second game, putting it 2-2. It is now 9-4 all-time against Clark. This is the second time Clark has lost to Marshall in the series.
After the game, Clark’s Nick Clark was named the WNC Class C Player of the Week. He has surpassed his total rushing yards from his junior year, averaging 7.7 yards per carry. He ranks fourth all-time in MHSAA career rushing records. He also holds the state record for rushing yards in a single game against Morenci.

They lost to Fairhope 38-31 in overtime in Week 9 and then blew a 35-31 lead at Baker in the second half. They are currently 5-3 on the season and 3-2 in Class 7A, Region 1. They have lost their last three games.
They did have an impressive feat in their latest win though. They scored their first touchdown of the season in their game against Fairhope. They also have two interceptions by Braden Jackson. They also have a quarterback in Tyler Lacey who has completed 64 percent of his passes. In the meantime, the Trojans have eight sophomores starting on offense.
They have a strong defense led by Jamarion Evans with 83 tackles. They also have four sacks by Johnnie Perdue and James Quinnelly. They also have 80 tackles by Garrett Childress. They also have a solid special teams unit led by Nick Clark with 93 rushing yards on 18 carries. Despite their lack of success on offense, they are still undefeated in region play. They have three seniors starting on defense. They also have a pair of honorable mentions on the Super All-State list.
The Daphne High School athletics program has won three state championships, one in 2010 and two in 2001. They also were ranked as a National Blue Ribbon School in 2012. They were also ranked as the 15th best school in the country by the National Prep Football Poll in 2012. Despite their lagging record, they have received several major additions over the last few years. They also offer the Advanced Placement (AP) courses that allow students to graduate with college credit.

Earlier this month, five Daphne trojans signed NCAA Division I athletic scholarships. Several of these student-athletes also earned the National High School Sportsmanship Award, which is given to high school athletes, coaches and fans. This is the first time that an institution has received the NCAA national sportsmanship award.
KJ Lacey, who is a sophomore at Saraland, made his debut for the Pirates. He threw two touchdowns and rushed for one, leading Saraland to a 43-23 win over Daphne. He also had an interception. Lacey completed 23 of 33 passes for 266 yards.
In addition to his touchdown runs, KJ Lacey also threw a 31-yard pass to Brooke Womble and a 19-yarder to Jordan Williams. Williams also scored a touchdown from five yards out. His 75-yard punt return for a touchdown was also a highlight.
Daphne finished the season ranked 15th in the nation in the National Prep Football Poll. The Trojans were undefeated in region play and finished the season with an 8-1 record. The Trojans are a member of the Alabama High School Athletic Association and are classified as a 6A school. The school was also ranked as a National Blue Ribbon School in 2012. Several of the Trojans student-athletes are members of the National Honor Society and earned A-B Honor Rolls.
Daphne will travel to Carver on Thursday. The Trojans will also be looking for revenge against Murphy on Saturday. Earlier this year, the Trojans lost in the first round of the state playoffs. In 2010, Daphne won the state championship game. In 2012, Daphne won the state’s sportsmanship award. They were also named the National Blue Ribbon School for 2012. The Trojans are also considered for the 2022 DHS Hall of Fame.
