Despite a poor performance in the first quarter, the Cordova Blue Devils showed promise in the second quarter, gaining momentum to lead 29-0 at halftime. They took the lead on their third possession of the game, scoring on a pass from QB Jeremy Pederson to RB Darion Moore. Pederson’s speed and quickness made him the perfect quarterback for the Cordova offense. He threw for another two touchdowns, and the Blue Devils never looked back.

Northside Rams

Despite a valiant effort by the Northside Rams, Cordova claimed the win on the scoreboard, 20-19. The Blue Devils have now won three straight and will look to keep the momentum going when they travel to West Blocton on October 30. Despite the fact that the Blue Devils were only up by a touchdown in the first quarter, the Rams managed to wear the burgundy and gold on their coat tails in the second half.

The Northside Rams had the ball in their hands for a hefty 30 minutes, but they remained untested on defense until the final minute of regulation. The Blue Devils’ defense was led by stout senior linebacker Dallas Clark, who was at his best when he needed to be. The one-two punch of the senior linebacker and the junior linebacker paved the way for an impressive effort by the running backs. The Warriors were no match for the Blue Devils, who took control early and held on to win. The Blue Devils scored on a few occasions to stay in front, including the impressive 92-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter. Good Hope’s defense kept the Warriors from scoring in the first half. The Blue Devils scored a 92-yard touchdown to end the first quarter. The score was followed by a two-run home run.

Good Hope’s offense came out aggressive in the second half. Brontae Harris ran for 219 yards and Xavier Chaney had two touchdowns. The Raiders forced two turnovers on downs, but the Warriors turned the ball over on downs once again.

Good Hope scored three more touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Colby Whatley and Michael Barrett added RBIs. Xavier McCollum had 19 carries for 141 yards.

Good Hope had a chance to tie the game in a final series, but the Warriors failed to score. The Raiders turned the ball over on downs once again.

West Point led 28-14 at halftime, but the Blue Devils scored twice in a short span to take control. The Warriors missed an extra point attempt and the game ended on a punt.

Final drive of first half

Almost every time Cordova played in the first half, the Blue Devils hit on a key down. In this game, Cordova had a chance to put up the final touchdown of the first half. But Cordova missed the 35-yard point-after attempt. It wasn’t the end of the world. Cordova’s defense held the Eagles to just five yards in the second half.

Cordova went into the locker room trailing 13-12. Cordova scored the first touchdown of the game. Cordova had a fumble and picked it up at the 19-yard line. Having the defense stop the Catholics on downs, and in the closing minutes, the Grizzlies were able to take the lead for good.

The Grizzlies opened the game with a 77-yard drive that took 11 plays. They ended the drive with a touchdown, as quarterback Max Frazier completed a 63-yard pass to receiver Tre Norwood. Grizzly kicker Chuy Parga added an extra point, giving the Grizzlies a 15-6 lead at halftime.

Greenwood then scored on four plays, with quarterback Josh Archer throwing to receiver Aiden Kennon for 18 yards. Archer then threw a pass to L.J. Robbins for 18 yards to the GHS 40. The defense, however, stopped the Grizzlies on their fourth down play at the GHS 40.

On their next drive, Northside scored its lone touchdown, after the defense had forced a punt on the first play. Grizzlies runner Luke Jones took the ball 47 yards to the opposing 8-yard-line. The Northside defense got pressure on the extra point, and missed it wide left.

Then, Northside scored on the Grizzlies’ final drive of the game, a 71-yard drive. The drive started with a 15-yard penalty on the Bulldogs. The defense, however, got the ball back with just over a minute to play.
