Long Island Fall Festival

Located in Heckscher Park, Long Island Fall Festival is a fun filled day for the entire family. This annual event includes carnival rides, food courts, live entertainment and more. The festival is also a fundraiser for Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery and Aquarium. All proceeds benefit continuing education and the aquarium.

This year’s Long Island Fall Festival is taking place September 21-22. The event will run from 11:00am – 5:00pm on both Saturday and Sunday. This festival is a great time to enjoy the fall foliage before it’s too late. It’s also a fun way to enjoy a few games, carnival rides, arts and crafts vendors and other fun activities. There will be over 300 vendors at the Fall Festival, so you’ll be sure to find something that you’ll enjoy.

The Long Island Fall Festival is the largest event of its kind in the northeast. It has attracted thousands of visitors from the Tri-state area. This year’s lineup includes a dance studio, an international food court, carnival rides and musical entertainment. You can also enjoy a fun-filled pumpkin patch and petting zoo for the kids. Holiday Lights Candlemaking Workshop

Taking a candle making class is a great way to make something fun and meaningful with your family and friends. Candles can help bring a little bit of serenity to your home and help you create a calmer mood. You can also make gifts for your loved ones and decorate your home for the holidays.

The Ooh La Light Candle Company is offering a candle making workshop on December 20th. The class is scheduled for 5pm to 7pm and is free for members and $15 for non-members. The class will feature a demonstration of the main ingredients needed to make a beautiful candle. You can also opt for a private pouring session where you can pick your own scent and pour your own candle. You can make an additional candle for $5 per candle.

This introductory workshop is also suitable for adults and kids of all ages. The instructor will guide you through the steps involved in making a candle, including pouring the wax into a mold, adding scents, and creating your very own masterpiece. You will also learn about the history of candles, from whale oil to candles fueled by wind. The best part is you get to take home your new creation. The materials fee is $35, but you can get in for less.

Whaleboat Chat

Whether you are a local or just passing through, you can experience an evening of Whale Boat Chat at Cold Spring Harbor events. Led by Admissions Associate Gerard Crosson, these 20-30 minute talks explore the history of whaling and the artifacts that document this history.

Whaling was a major source of commerce for Cold Spring Harbor, as well as an important source of employment for local fishermen. The local whaling industry reached its peak in the mid-19th century, but the number of whaleboats declined in the following decades. This led to the town becoming an important center for science and rebirth.

The Whaleboat Museum is one of the few museums in the world that has a fully-equipped 19th century whaleboat. This museum is home to an amazing collection of scrimshaw and whaling artifacts. The museum also features a large diorama of Cold Spring Harbor in 1850, and has 12 detailed models of whaling ships.

The Whaleboat Museum hosts drop-in chats and harpoon touch events, and also offers Nantucket Sleighride simulations. The museum also hosts monthly Whale Boat Chats. These talks focus on a 19th century whaleboat, and are usually twenty to thirty minutes long. They will be held on the second Saturday of every month.

Aside from the museum, there are a variety of things to do in Cold Spring Harbor. You can hike along the coast, kayak, feed the fish at the aquarium, or even take a scenic boat ride. There are a variety of eateries as well, clustering along Main Street. You can enjoy the local food at Harbor Mist, Sweetie Pies on Main, or the Cold Spring Harbor Plaza Deli.

Among the many Cold Spring Harbor events you can attend, you should consider the upcoming Bedlam Street Bash. This event will be held on December 1st, and will include food from several local eateries as well as rum and craft-making tastings.

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory’s end-of-course contest

CSHL’s end-of-course contest, the Plate Race, is one of the most anticipated events of the year. It combines a competitive spirit with camaraderie. The winning team must cross the finish line first without dropping any dishes. It also involves team members from each course running laps while balancing 40 used petri dishes.

For the past three decades, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory’s summer course has taught high school students about biology and research. The course blends hands-on laboratory training with lectures by world-renowned structural biologists. It also includes team-building activities and contests.

CSHL’s Undergraduate Research Program offers high school students an opportunity to work with researchers in one of the Laboratory’s primary research areas. The program is open to students from schools across Long Island. The Laboratory distributes nomination forms to school science department chairs in February. The winners spend ten hours a week in their senior year working with their scientist mentor.

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory’s Partners for the Future program is a unique biomedical research program for high school seniors. High school science department chairs nominate two students in their junior year. They must work with a researcher in the Laboratory’s primary research area. This gives students a chance to experience a career in scientific research.

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory’s DNA Learning Center provides materials and teacher training for students interested in learning molecular genetics. In addition, the Laboratory’s Meetings and Courses Program brings more than 10,000 scientists to the campus annually.

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory’s graduate program is renowned for its innovative approach to advanced education. It has been positioned as one of the top research institutions in the world. Its curriculum has allowed students to earn their doctorates much faster than traditional programs.

Famous residents of Cold Spring Harbor

Among the many famous residents of Cold Spring Harbor, New York are Meg Whitman and Lindsay Lohan. Meg Whitman was born in Cold Spring Harbor, and Lindsay Lohan spent a portion of her childhood there.

Cold Spring Harbor was a whaling town in the early days. The area was also known as “Wawapex,” meaning “good little water place.” The Matinecock tribe had lived in the area for a long time. The Europeans brought diseases that devastated the indigenous communities of Long Island.

Cold Spring Harbor had a prosperous whaling industry for nearly a quarter century. The town’s economy grew as whaling captains arrived, and new docks were built. Eventually, whaling became less profitable, and tourism replaced whaling as the town’s main industry.

In addition to the Cold Spring Harbor Whaling Museum, there are several other attractions to see in the area. These include the Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery, Watson and Crick genetics laboratory, and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. The Fish Hatchery is open twice a day and takes about two hours to visit. The Whaling Museum has a large boulder on display, which was used by the Whaling Company to mark its location.

Cold Spring Harbor is home to the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, a scientific research facility that is well known for its advances in genetics and cancer research. The laboratory was founded in 1890.
