Clay-Chalkville Football

Several factors are at play when it comes to the Clay-Chalkville football team. Some of them involve the COVID-19 program. Some of the other factors involve the team’s opponents, Hewitt-Trussville and Jackson Olin.

Mario Craver

Earlier this year, Mario Craver played football for Clay-Chalkville High School in Pinson, Alabama. He is currently a sophomore wide receiver for the Cougars. Craver is a four-star prospect and is regarded as one of the top 2024 wide receivers in the country.

Craver received offers from several blueblood programs including Alabama, Tennessee, Oklahoma and Florida. His official visit to Tennessee was on July 30, 2022. He was offered a scholarship to play at the University of Tennessee. There are no other visits scheduled at this time.

Mario Craver had an impressive 2021 season for the Cougars. He was the second leading receiver for the team. He finished the year with 46 receptions for 937 yards and 10 touchdowns.

The Clay-Chalkville offense stole the show last season. They averaged 43 points per game and allowed just 16 points per game. They rushed for 374 yards on 29 attempts.

Clay-Chalkville scored two touchdowns in the first quarter. A three-yard touchdown run by Rodreckus Johnson and a 23-yard touchdown pass from Kamari McClellan to Mario Craver put the Cougars up 13-6.

Clay-Chalkville was able to score another touchdown on a blocked punt. Mario Byrd returned the opening kickoff 88 yards. He was also able to run for a touchdown on the kickoff return.

Mario Craver had a big game last season as a sophomore. He finished with 46 receptions for 937 yards and a couple of touchdowns. He also showed his elite speed. He showed off his ability to create separation on routes.

Clay-Chalkville will be a top contender in Class 6A, Region 6 this season. They could go back-to-back in 6A if they beat Shades Valley next week. If they beat Brookwood, they will also be the top seed in Region 6. They will host the first round of the playoffs.

Jaylen Mbakwe

Among the best recruits in Alabama in the Class of 2024, Jaylen Mbakwe of Clay-Chalkville High School has been offered by numerous college football programs. Mbakwe, a junior at Clay-Chalkville, was a two-way player last season, earning 9 touchdowns and 36 receptions for 677 yards. He also compiled four interceptions and 12 pass deflections.

Mbakwe, a four-star recruit, has offers from several college football programs, including USC, UAB, Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, and Texas A&M. Mbakwe has also visited Alabama football several times, including a visit in June. In January, Alabama offered him a scholarship.

Mbakwe is also close with Auburn coach Tim Keenan III and Clay-Chalkville alum D.J. Dale. Mbakwe is considered to be the top player in the state for the Class of 2024. In January, Oregon offered him in-state, while Michigan State, Notre Dame, and Alabama were among the schools that contacted him.

After a visit to Alabama in June, Mbakwe revealed his commitment to the Crimson Tide. He has been recruited by area recruiter Freddie Roach and cornerbacks coach Travaris Robinson. While Mbakwe has visited Auburn, Alabama, and Mississippi State, he has yet to visit Ole Miss or Louisville. He also plans to visit Tennessee and Georgia in the near future.

Mbakwe, a 6-foot-1, 170-pound player, is considered the top player in Alabama for the Class of 2024. He has offers from several college football programs, including Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Louisville, Mississippi State, and Texas A&M. He also has unofficial visits planned to Tennessee and Arkansas.

Mbakwe is a two-way player, playing both defense and offense for the Cougars. He has a high football IQ, and is a positive influence on his peers. He was named defensive MVP in the SEC Youth All-American Game last season. He also has a five-star rating from Touchdown Alabama.

Hewitt-Trussville

Historically, Hewitt-Trussville and Clay-Chalkville football has been a competitive rivalry. The schools have met in varsity football games since 1998. However, in recent years, they have ceased playing each other.

During the 2013-14 school year, Clay-Chalkville canceled all of its games with Hewitt-Trussville. This is the only sports season that the schools have not played each other in the past two years. The schools did meet in basketball on November 14.

Clay-Chalkville has won four straight games and hasn’t allowed a team to score more than 14 points in any of them. The Warriors are a talented team, and are primed to make a deep run in the Alabama Class 7A playoffs. However, they haven’t been a title contender, as they lost to a couple of nationally ranked teams.

The Hewitt-Trussville football team finished the season with a 8-4 record. They finished seventh in the team competition. The Huskies have also lost to two of the top teams in Class 7A, so they aren’t far behind.

The Hewitt-Trussville girls flag football team finished the season with a loss to Oxford in the state quarterfinals. They lost their last game of the season to Thompson.

Clay-Chalkville’s quarterback Ty Pigrome has passed for 30 touchdowns this season. He also has run for two. The Cougars have also won six straight 50-point games. This will put them into the playoffs next week.

The Clay-Chalkville football team hasn’t played Hewitt-Trussville in a football game since the spring. The schools will meet in basketball on November 14. However, this will not be the last time they face each other.

The Hewitt-Trussville and Clay-Chalkville schools have met in a variety of other sports over the years. Their rivalry has become a sour one.

Hoover

During the past five seasons, Clay-Chalkville has posted a 49-20 record. The Cougars finished the season with a higher national ranking than any other Alabama high school. They are currently the top-ranked team in the state. They will have two SEC prospects on display in this week’s game.

Clay-Chalkville defeated Mountain Brook 24-18 in the Class 6A semifinal game. Clay-Chalkville’s offense finished with 210 yards rushing and 191 through the air. They also scored three touchdowns on the ground. Clay-Chalkville’s quarterback finished with a 49-yard touchdown run around the right side. He also completed three passes for incompletions.

The Clay-Chalkville defense finished with a stellar performance. The Cougars held the Mountain Brook offense to a mere 3.8 points per game. They also gave up six sacks and broke up six passes. They also had 81 tackles in the secondary.

The Clay-Chalkville football team is led by quarterback Evan Smith, who completed a dazzling high school career with a total of 28 touchdowns. He was joined on the receiving end by wide receivers Marquarius White, who hauled in 84 passes for 1,335 yards.

Clay-Chalkville also featured running back Edward Osley, who won Offensive Player of the Year. Osley finished with 32 touchdowns and a career-high 548 rushing yards. He also was the team’s leading tackler, with 107 tackles. The Cougars also had an explosive receiving corps led by Mario Craver. He finished with 10 touchdowns and over 800 receiving yards.

Clay-Chalkville is set to play Niceville (Fla.) on August 23. The Cougars have been working on their second straight perfect region slate. The game could be televised nationally by ESPN. Clay-Chalkville has a 12-5 series lead over the Buccaneers.

COVID-19 concerns affect Jackson Olin vs Clay-Chalkville

During the first quarter of the year, the Clay-Chalkville Mustangs sported a 6-3 record and a semblance of a playoff caliber. They would squeak in by the skins and make the postseason for the first time in a few years. The Tigers are slated to take on rivals Mortimer Jordan and Huymouth on the road to glory. They will need to put up a fight in order to earn the championship and a spot in the state championships. The Tigers have a plethora of talented and dedicated players, a stout nucleolus of a coaching staff, and a solid home field advantage. The Tigers are certainly capable of a deep run in the Class 5A playoffs. They are also capable of a high powered season, even without the presence of their marquee quarterback and the star of the show.
