Cherokee Warriors Football Preview

cherokee warriors football

Whether you’re a fan of the Grizzlies, Chiefs or any other team, there’s no doubt that football is a fun game to watch. With the two teams set to play this weekend, you’ll have to decide which team will come out on top. Here are some of the things to keep in mind for your team.

Coach

During his tenure at Cherokee High, Coach Brian Dameron has led the Chargers to a few notable achievements. The best was a 52-6 opening day victory over Mays in the Class A state championship game. Dameron led his team to six state playoff appearances during his 11 seasons as head coach. The latest Top 25 Power rankings powered by NFL Play Football list Cherokee as number 20.

Coach Dameron’s tenure as head coach will soon come to an end. According to the Cherokee Tribune, Dameron announced his departure to Superintendent Frank Petruzielo on Friday afternoon. Announcing his departure, Dameron claimed that he was a better teammate than he was a head coach. As for the future of the Chargers, Dameron will be replaced by Jeremy Adams, a Cherokee High alum who will be joining Dameron in his next incarnation as athletic director. The athletic director will also be responsible for hiring and retaining a coaching staff to take the Chargers to their next level.

While Dameron may be gone, Coach Josh Shaw is ready to lead the Chargers into the playoffs. Shaw will be aided in his endeavors by a strong senior class, including quarterback AJ Swann, who has already threw for three touchdowns in this year’s opening round of the playoffs. His defense will also be bolstered by a veteran linebacker. This team is a model of grit and discipline. The team will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing loss last week in the Class AAA state championship game. The Warriors also have a non-region game against the Rome Wolves on the books.

During the off-season, Dameron will likely be joined by his assistant coaches, including his son, Cole Sackman, who will likely be the star of the Grizzlies defense. The Grizzlies will also have a new assistant coach in the form of David Dyer, a former player who is no stranger to the football field.

The best way to sum up Dameron’s tenure as head coach at Cherokee High is to look at the team’s record in comparison to the state of Georgia. Although Dameron was a fan favorite, the Grizzlies were not a powerhouse last year, losing in the Class AAA state championship game to arch rival River Ridge.

Offense

Despite the fact that the Cherokee County Warriors missed the state championship last season, they have made their presence known this season. The team has a potent offense, and plenty of playmakers on both sides of the ball.

The Cherokee County Warriors started out the season as the number two team in Class 4A. The team defeated Fayette County, Ashville, and Locust Fork, before beating Jacksonville 24-12. They were also able to advance to the second round of the 4A State Playoffs.

Despite missing several of its most important seniors, the Warriors have plenty of returning playmakers on both sides of the ball. Coty Blanchard has rushed for 2,381 yards and 38 touchdowns this season, and he is just one of the players that makes the team special. The team also has some talented wide receivers.

In the first half, the Cherokee County Warriors amassed 285 yards rushing. The offense scored three touchdowns, and Coty Blanchard was the star of the show with three touchdown passes and two rushing touchdowns. He finished the game with a blazing 253 yards and four touchdowns.

In the second half, the Warriors were held to just 74 yards on four offensive drives. The offense failed to score in the third quarter, but the Warriors were able to score in the fourth quarter.

The Cherokee County Warriors had two of the best first quarters in school history. Their offense was capable of making plays early, and the team was able to score four touchdowns in the first four touches of the ball. The team also scored a touchdown on an interception return.

The biggest question mark, however, was the defense. The Warriors had two pass deflections, one tackle for a loss, and an interception. They also had an overabundance of turnovers, a total of seven.

In the end, the Cherokee County Warriors had the best season in school history. They won their first game ever, and made their way to the state championship game. The team is looking forward to the next few weeks. They will play Speake or South Lamar next week.

Special teams

Often times, a team’s special teams unit includes backup offensive players as well as backup defensive players. If the special teams unit can maintain a good field position, the momentum of the game can change for the better.

Cherokee’s special teams unit played well in the first half of the game against North Forsyth. Parker was the primary defender on the Warriors’ scoring defense, racking up 17 quarterback pressures and 168 total tackles. He also recovered four fumbles. He also had seven tackles for loss.

Parker was also a key player on Cherokee’s special teams unit, as he racked up four forced fumbles and seven tackles for loss. He was also the team leader with 15 rushing touchdowns and five receptions for 124 yards.

The Warriors’ special teams unit gave up 30 or more points in three of the four games. The Warriors will have to work on several key areas this season.

Adarrius Harshaw is a speedy player who can make an impact on special teams. He rushed for 626 yards and 13.9 yards per carry as a sophomore. Harshaw has a lot of room for improvement. He is listed at 5’9” and 145 pounds. He will be entering his second season as a varsity starter. He will look to improve his rushing and special teams performance.

Jacob Cornejo, a star linebacker, is the leading tackler for the Warriors. He also rushed for over 1100 yards last season.

Darius Cannon, a 5-foot-11, 195-pound receiver, has become a big playmaker on both sides of the ball. He set a school record with 10 touchdown receptions. He also led the Warriors in kickoff returns, averaging 23 yards per return. He also had four pass breakups.

The Warriors have several talented players who will make an impact this season. They will look to continue their playoff run. They will also face a tough road schedule. They will play five of their first six games away from Tommy Baker Field.

The Warriors will play in the Corky Kell Kickoff Classic in West Forsyth on September 2. The Warriors will look to make a statement in the first high school game of the season in Georgia.

Grizzlies vs Chiefs

Whether you’re looking to see which teams will advance in the playoffs or which teams will make the finals, you should take a look at the high school football action that’s happening in Cherokee County this week. The season is reaching a crucial stage and the first round of the playoffs is set. The following five games will take place in Cherokee County.

The River Ridge Knights have won 8 straight games and have an impressive 8-0 overall record. They’ve never lost to a Cherokee County team, but they haven’t been able to beat Sprayberry. They will try to upset Creekview this week. If they can beat Johns Creek on Friday, they could claim the region title.

The Creekview Grizzlies have a 6-2 record heading into the final two weeks of the season. They’ve been the second youngest program in Cherokee County, but they’ve played well enough in the 2020 season to be considered a potential playoff team. They also have a lot of talent, including Cole Hasty and Andrew Cloy. Their defense must be sure tacklers this week. They also need to stop the dual threat quarterback Avery Smith.

The Sequoyah Chiefs are likely to compete for a playoff spot in 2021, but they are not a team that will contend for the region title. They’ve lost a few close games this season, including a 59-75 loss to Wheeler. They are also averaging just over 19 points per game. They’ll need to play a much better defensive game against the Woodstock Wolverines this week.

The Etowah Eagles are also looking to go 3-0 for the first time since the 2015 season. They have Klivert Many (RB), Carlos Thornton Jr. (LB), and Johar Cacho (WR). They’ll also be riding Mahoney and Buffalo Wehr.

The Woodstock Wolverines have struggled on offense this season. They’ve only scored one touchdown against Cherokee and Cedartown. They’ve had some success with running backs Isaiah Payton and Tobias Sallee. The Warriors’ defense needs to get better at pressuring the quarterback.

The Cherokee Warriors are one of the best programs in Cherokee County and they’ve had a lot of success this season. They’ve won five games in a row. They’ve also defeated Cartersville and Rome. They’ve also received statewide recognition for the Corky Kell tournament. They’ve also had a few appearances in the top-10 rankings.
