During the Baker County High School Football playoff game against Royal, the offense never let up. Baker County’s Blake Mays played well and the Wildcats never lost momentum.
During the 2015 season, Blake Mays burst onto the scene. He started the fifth game of the season and played well. But he didn’t play in the following week’s game against Arkansas State. Hopefully, Mays will be ready to step up when Kentucky needs a big shot.
Mays was a first-team all-conference selection as a senior at Livingston High School in 2014. He also earned the Southwest Junior College Football Conference honorable mention at Blinn College as a sophomore. He spent his freshman season at Tyler Junior College, where he scored his only career touchdown. He’s on track to graduate in December.
In the first quarter of the Hoosick Falls-Tamarac game, Dylan Mays threw a pass to Tucker Thayne for 19 yards. Jamarian Baker then broke through the defenders for 32 yards. He later rushed for two yards on the first offensive play. In the second quarter, Blake Mays threw a pass to James Blake for 38 yards. After a botched assignment, Baker County’s third offensive series was completed with an 11-yard run by Mays.
In the second half, Mays threw two touchdown passes. He ran for 92 yards on nine carries. He was able to complete four of his four passes. He also threw an extra point. He’s been very efficient this year, completing 39 percent of his passes.
Mays’ rushing average is 6.1 yards per carry, which ranks seventh in school history. The training staff has helped Mays off the field. He’s scored five touchdowns and rushed for 519 yards on 129.8 yards per game this season.
While Kentucky is a balanced team, they’re lacking a dominant scorer. Archie Goodwin and Kyle Wiltjer have both proven that they’re capable of taking defenders off dribble. They can also set a ball screen, allowing them to have a classic pick-and-roll play.
The Wildcats’ offense also benefited from the strong play of their defense. Baldwin County had no timeouts left. They started at their 49-yard line. However, their ensuing drive ended in a fumble and a safety. Baldwin County’s two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful under the coverage of Davion Dean.
Mays also wore a few hats on the field. He made five tackles, including one for loss. He’s a great athlete, who has a great sense of humor. He also helped the Wildcats’ offense with a 28-yard field goal with 3:32 left in the fourth quarter. In the end, Kentucky moved to 10-4 in SEC play and tied Alabama for second place.
The Wildcats’ win over Missouri helped Kentucky improve its standing in the SEC and its overall record. But the Wildcats still need to win three more games to ensure their spot in the NCAA Tournament. They can’t afford to fall behind Florida or Missouri, or the Wildcats will not be able to finish the season with a shot at the championship.
Despite a second half slump, the Baker County Wildcats have been a consistent offensive force. They have topped 30 points five times in their past six games. Baker is the third seed in the 2-2S region. They will play next week against rival Bradford. A win over the Wildcats will earn them a spot in the Region 2-2S semifinal. This is the third time in the past six seasons that the Baker County High School football team has qualified for the playoffs. They are now 9-1. They will play in the Region 2-2S semifinal against either Baldwin or Palatka.

Defending champion Mount Baker Mountaineers will take on Royal Knights in the 1A state championship game. This is the first time these two teams will meet in the state championship. However, the game is not expected to be a cakewalk. It should be a high-scoring affair.
Both teams are strong, but it is the Mountaineers who have the most experience and are favored to win the game. The game is expected to be played at Harry Lang Stadium in Lakewood. If it is, it could end a venue hoodoo. It is also expected to be the biggest game in high school football this year. However, it is also possible that the Mountaineers will fall short.
The Mount Baker Mountaineers are coming off of a win over the Nooksack Valley Pioneers in the final at Civic Stadium in Everett. They were led by a strong rushing attack led by Marques George. He carried the ball 28 times for 243 yards. He finished the game with two rushing touchdowns.
Royal High School was also a force in the game. The Knights piled up 564 yards of total offense. They took the lead in the first quarter when Wilhem Maloley scored on an eight-yard run. He also tossed a four-yard touchdown pass to Bennett Brown. The game also featured two touchdowns from Ryan Peppins. The game was also the first of its kind in the state.
The game also had its fair share of controversy. Both teams were a half step behind in a few key areas. The Knights lost a fumble, and Mount Baker had a turnover on downs.
